If I never see you again,
it's of utmost importance to me that somehow you know, wherever I go, it is your face I most long to see. I'm stationed so far from my home, still fighting this hell of a war. It is lonely here, sure, but I'm trying to endure just hoping to see you once more. I remember when we were so young and uncertain of what lay ahead, I left you one night, right after a fight, to find comfort in somebody's bed. I've intensely regretted that moment and our foolish decision to part. Though I left you behind, you've stayed on my mind and forever will live in my heart. The bullets are flying around me. I've been chasing Al-Qaeda since dawn. Though there's blood on my shirt, nothing equals the hurt of knowing your love for me's gone. If I never see you again, and my flag-shrouded coffin returns, I want you to know, if my love didn't show, deep in my heart it still burns. |
