Remember the days when we danced in green meadows
with braided chain daisies festooned in our hair?
Attuned to the rhythms of childhood we frolicked
with fistfuls of flowers and seldom a care.

Whenever the sun shone upon the clear water
bedazzling our eyes with its fractals of light,
we'd splash in the waves with the purest abandon
and swim in the sunshine with golden delight.

We'd summon the magic we found in green clover;
whomever was lucky found petals of four.
We'd sip on the sweetness of nectar from dew drops
found hiding in brambles near Grandma's back door.

However we choose to remember our childhood,
with country, suburban, or citywide views,
the whimsical wonderment found in our young years
still beckons to us through nostalgia's sweet muse.
