Silly story about being followed

Footsteps

by Cecilia A Heiskary

It was a dark night, and the moon shone brightly. I decided to take my dog Angel for a walk. I lived in a fairly safe neighborhood. I took Angel out often and never had any problems. The moon lit the way and threw shadows off the trees. Some of the images were grotesque, while others made me step up my walk. I got an eerie feeling that I was being watched. My faithful Angel sensed it too, and she started to growl. This just unnerved me even more.

I told Angel we needed to cut this walk short. I started to power walk, however my dog kept turning around, and slowed us down. Then I heard it and my skin started to crawl. There were footsteps behind me and I almost peed myself. Angel started growling louder, and I kept pulling her along. I yelled over my shoulder and told the footsteps “I have a gun and I know how to use it.” The footsteps just ignored me. Angel was slowing me down. I finally picked her up and started running. The footsteps picked up pace and I ran as fast as I could. I was a block from my home. The footsteps started running and I screamed, “I have a gun and I will use it.” Still no response.

I finally got to my front door, and it sounded like the footsteps were getting closer. I opened the door, put  Angel in the house, and finally looked behind me. There was nothing there. I knew I wasn’t crazy and heard what I heard. This incident scared me so bad that I never again walked my dog at night. Was it some crazy sicko following me, or was it my imagination playing tricks on me. I will never know.

I just wrote this story for no reason. My muse directed me so here we are.
