After Twenty-five Years

by DragonSkulls

The last time I saw Charlie Brown he was beaten, handcuffed, thrown in a cop car and surely heading back to prison.

I remember when he finally got out after his twenty-five year stretch for killing Lucy. She had it coming though. Every single time he tried to kick that football she'd yank it away, each time swearing she wouldn't. That very last time, he went mental. He got up out of the dirt and asked her to hold it again. Of course she would. That's how Lucy worked. That time though, he used her 'head' as the football. Little did he know the snapping of her neck would end up taking her life. Since it wasn't first degree murder, he got twenty-five years in San Quentin.

He wasn't the same Charlie Brown I remembered, not at all. Clearly not the dumpy little kid that went in. Prison changes a boy into a man. He was buff and tatted and ready for revenge. He walked out the gate with the same thing he went in with: his pants and that dumb yellow shirt he always wore.

There were only two testifying witnesses the day that Charlie kicked Lucy's head off. Her younger brother, Linus and Lucy's wannabe love, Schroeder.

Long story short, Linus knew Charlie was out and on his way for vengeance. He didn't even wait. The police found him hanging by his beloved blanket in his apartment.

A day later, they found Schroeder. His skull was crushed. It turns out Charlie, after shoving his head beneath it, used the lid of his own grand piano and repeatedly blasted Schroeder's noggin into mush.

That night, they caught Charlie in the pumpkin patch, Schroeder's blood all over him.

I'm sure he'll spend the rest of his life in prison if he doesn't get the death penalty. Some cartoon characters deserve such a fate.

The last time I saw Charlie, he smiled and nodded at me as the cop car drove away.

Writing Prompt
Write a story that begins with the line: The last time I saw Charlie ... (continue the sentence and story).

I created this silly picture myself from a couple different Google Images and adding a few touches for effect. Lol
