Humdrum
by Wils
The alarm blares out and I awaken at seven o’clock, just as I do every day. There are pets to feed, breakfast to prepare, chores to do, kids to pick up, dinner to get… and then press the repeat button for tomorrow.
The virtual chain around my neck tightens as I stare at the jar of cash I have collected over the years and dream of somewhere far from here. I don’t care where it is, as long as it contains variety, spontaneity and I can be free to escape this monotony.
This humdrum life can be a real drag.
