Information from my publisher.
A chapter in the book Writing Journey
Wondering.

Background Audrey Hepburn: 'Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!' |
Yesterday I received a surprise call from my publisher, Kevin. He'd been bugging me about giving him access to 'Willing Hearts'. I've told him numerous times that I won't be ready to give it to him until around February first. I figured that was what he wanted so after 'hello' I said, "I'm not ready with 'Willing Hearts' yet."
He paused. "That's not what I'm calling about. You need to hear what's happened on this end from me."
Now I'm really worried. "What do you mean?"
"Our publishing company has been bought out by a larger company. Many of the employees have been fired. My team and I are safe. Things have changed a lot, but we're safe."
"I'm glad to hear that, but--"
"You'll continue to be taken care of by me. That won't change. You're safe."
Now, I'm really worried. My imagination goes wild, and I see a hostile takeover with armed gunman rushing their building; they each held a bullet proof shield. Yes, I can get carried away. I calmed my nerves and took a drink of tea. "You're saying you're safe with this larger publishing company."
"I am and nothing should change for you. I will continue to take care of you. My team is safe too."
All I could concentrate on is the word 'should' and did some praying. "I'll continue to have faith, and I'll pray that everything works out for you. Thank you for letting me know."
"I'll call tomorrow after you've had time to process this information in case you have questions."
"Thank you and I'll be waiting for your call."
I immediately called my mom. Yes, even 70-year-old women need to talk with Mom when things are bothering them. I needed to discuss this out loud and my husband was at the firing range. My major concern with larger publishing companies, and Lancelot will enjoy this one, is that they only want to publish erotic romance, not the soft Christian romance that I write.
I would rather go unpublished than write that type of romance. I will not lower my standard to be published. My fan base isn't huge, but it's strong. There is a market for Christian romance. I guess my main reason for writing this is to ask for prayers that things work out with my publisher, and that nothing changes for me.
Thank you.

Update on author's signing I've previously mentioned. The owner of the bookstore in the town next to us has had some health issues and we've struggled setting on a date. The local small bookstore, it just opened up, first had an air-conditioner issue and had to close until through donations they could afford an air-conditioner. It's too hot in Texas not to have one. Then once that was fixed, they were broke into and had to close for those repairs.
