Twins reflect upon their differences and the resulting envy

Mirror Image Envy

by Terry Reilly

Dan looks like me but there resemblance ends,

his courage, chutzpah, bravery inspires.

Such boldness my timidity transcends,

to match his nerve my feeble heart desires.

Though I admire his braggadocio,

sometimes I feel resentment grow within.

How could the Lord unequally bestow

such gifts to one but not the other twin?

I feel aggrieved that Dick's got all the brains.

He navigates through life so carefully.

I roar, rampage and earn myself such pains.

Dick makes decisions calm and thoughtfully.

But maybe Dick is just a little weak.

Perhaps my brother Dan's a dumb klutz freak!
