What will you run into on Halloween night?

Frights in the Night

by Monica Chaddick

A dead man was following me through the street

Looking for flesh and organs to eat

I ran so fast I bumped into a ghost

For a spectral being, he was hard as a wall, almost

A witch cackled as I ran by

So frightened I thought that I might cry

I thought I should hide, to say the least

But instead I encountered a hairy beast

I spied a clown standing in the street

He wasn't the type that I wanted to meet

There was a man sitting on a car hood

But when I saw his fangs I knew he was up to no good

Finally, I reached my door

Good thing, because I couldn't take much more

As I stripped off my princess dress

My mom told me that I looked a mess

I told her about everything I had seen

I never saw anything that wasn't mean

My mom just laughed as I finished my tale

She didn't believe me – I knew I would fail

Apparently I hadn't conveyed my fright

About all I encountered on Halloween night
