Real Poetry

by John Cranford

I love the rhythm and the rhyme
Of words that sing in perfect time
They skim like sailboats on the sea
Whisking me where I long to be

Some poems are just a load of bunk
Words strung together with no rhyme
Their authors are considered great
Go figure...It makes no sense to me

Give me the simple graceful lines
That stretch across the page like vines
And when through love their time is due
They make fine wine for me and you
