Goodbye, Winter!

When Spring Comes

by jim vecchio

When I am through with all that frost

And that snow with which I did flirt

I’m thankful for the days of Spring

Ending each one, smelling like dirt

Winter slaughters, destroys God’s growth

In Spring’s joy, laboring for hours

I may return a weary man

But soon I will smell the flowers

Winter is cruel, white covers all

Body warms with embers of coal

Spring wards off Winter’s angry chill

And breathes refreshment to my soul
