Cars On Parade

by Lobber

In seventeen sixty-nine, with steam,
Cugnot built a soldier’s dream,
A three-wheeled carriage, rough and bold,
For war, a tale of iron told.

In eighteen seven, Rivaz tried
With hydrogen, but hope soon died,
His engine sparked, but couldn’t stay,
And faded in the world’s great fray.

Then came Benz, in eighty-five,
With his Patent-Motorwagen alive,
The first true car to roam the street,
The modern world, it came to meet.

Ninety-three, the Duryea pair,
Brought gasoline to America’s air,
A revolution in the land,
The car would soon be in demand.

Olds in nineteen one, no fuss,
Mass-produced the Curved Dash for us,
Assembly lines would hum and grow,
And bring the wheels to all below.

Then Ford in nineteen oh-eight soared,
With Model T, the common lord,
An icon made for every man,
The auto age had truly began.

The twenties brought us culture’s taste,
Enclosed designs, electric grace,
Engines stronger, sleek and bold,
The car, a treasure to behold.

In thirties' air, they carved the lines,
Cadillac and Chrysler’s signs,
With safety too, like brakes that glide,
Luxury took a faster ride.

The forties, fifties saw the boom,
Post-war models filled the room,
Thunderbird and Corvette gleam,
The roads would echo with their dream.

Sixties' muscle, compact might,
Mustangs roared, Beetles light,
Icons born of speed and grace,
Their legacy would find its place.

Seventies struck with crisis deep,
Fuel efficiency to keep,
The Civic rose, compact and small,
Efficiency would rule them all.

The eighties' rise of Japan’s crest,
Honda, Toyota—built the best,
Reliability the name,
And global markets knew their fame
.
The nineties turned to greener days,
Electric dreams and hybrid ways,
Prius led the charge for more,
A future earth to thus restore.

In two thousand’s dawn, tech arrived,
Safety, airbags, screens that thrived,
SUVs, their reign began,
Infotainment ruled the land.

The tens saw Tesla lead the way,
Electric cars began their sway,
Autonomous, the future's glance,
Cars now driven by machine's dance.

In twenties, EVs rise again,
A future pledged by every man,
Autonomous, AI’s might,
Will drive us toward a future bright.
