Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
For all of my insomniacs

Staving Off the Night

That's how the dream always starts - with a fall,
A soft landing,
But what happens next?
 
We are the people who occupy the space in between
Between potential and kinetic
Between then and now
Between yesterday and today
Push and pull
Just friends to a first kiss
 
We don't have to think about tomorrow if we don't close our eyes,
Kept awake by the fire in the stars
Which is warm enough to make us feel human again.
