A spiritual poem

Along the Road

by Jessica Wheeler

Alone, I roamed a shadowed street,
and sauntered down a sunless path,
where ice grew thick beneath my feet,
and hope was lost to winter's wrath.

As darkness sought to steal the light,
my fragile faith began to fade,
and colder blew the winds of night,
the deeper into doubt I strayed.

Yet, from the depths of my despair,
He offered me the strength to stand.
He breathed his warmth into the air,
And thawed my heart with just His hand.

When darkness veiled the light within
before my voice could call, He showed.
For where He was; He’s always been,
Beside me, all along the road.
