A mysterious lady haunts me

Mistress of the Night

by Brian Hill

The Mistress of the Night

I'm baffled by the enchanting, of the Mistress of Night

she lingers in the shadows for me to forfeit all my sight

it seems it's when I'm sleeping, that her powers take their grip

it seems so very easy for the Mistress and I to trip

we walk among the stars and appear to exist in the great beyond

floating along the cloud lines, dipping beyond our bonds

the Mistress of Night knows nothing of natural laws

she's free from all the boundaries and clutches with great claws

the sights and sounds that besiege me, when in the presence of Miss Night

are gone in just an instant, when reality and I, reunite....
