Pointing the Finger

by Aussie

Write a rant. I think I will. I am so fed up with those pointing the finger at persons they don't like or are jealous of.

Humility isn't in their guide book and their mouth is always open. We can't like everyone, we can be civil though.

When the shoe is on the other foot how would you like to be shaken not stirred? Your fights in parliament are such a joke. From my end of the world, I see children fighting over a toy = US parliament. And you deal in millions of dollars. How much does a seat cost?

What happened to respect. Love your neighbour as yourself. Well, you can't if you don't love yourself. Pride cometh before a fall.

All we are doing by firing pot-shots at others is wounding ourselves. Humility has grown wings and flown away. To be humble isn't weakness, it shows strength of character. Jesus said "love thy neighbor as thyself." Too much loving of self has accumulated in greed, trinkets to adorn the self and fear of losing it all.

Would you change places with the poor? Would you live in a tent? Living on the foreshores of my home town, Hervey Bay (top tourist spot) so many families are living in tents. Could you live in a tent with your children? The freezing wind off the Pacific Ocean in your faces?

These folks are not homeless because they choose to live this way. A percentage have lost their jobs; from accountants to shop staff. They didn't choose this lifestyle. So, what does the council do? They put locks on the amenities so folks couldn't take a cold shower or anything else.

That is what I mean by 'man's inhumanity to man.' On the upside a private person bought an old bus and converted it to sleep eight people. It is fitted out with hot showers etc. So, that man needs a pat on the back for thinking of strangers instead of himself. We need to do more, even buying them a cup of coffee.

Material wealth will not buy a place in heaven. We came with nothing, we shall return with nothing. While we walk this earth we can help those less fortunate. Australia is a wealthy country. Instead of buying Lotto tickets, think of your brother and sister living in a tent.

Pointing the finger is judging a person by your standards. Once, a man asked Jesus, "How many times should I forgive? Seven times?" Jesus replied, "No, 77 times." In other words, we should always forgive someone who had offended us.

In closing, treat your fellow man as you would like to be treated yourself. Don't turn away because you may not like him. Above all, everyone has a story; listen because one day you may need someone to listen to you. We are all brothers and sisters.
Check List:
If thy eye offend thee, pluck it out
The tongue is the smallest member of the body and causes the most strife.
Judge not, lest ye be judged. And being judgemental you are only hurting yourself. Jesus wasn't all sugar and spice. Remember he whipped the moneychangers for using His Father's House.
Know the truth and it will set you free. Now I feel better.
