Winter Moon

by gansach

Winter moon, you are clothed

in a gauzy veil,

a misty halo around face pale.

Frosty breath that you blow

in a hazy cloud

settles on your head like Death's cold shroud.

Shining down on a world

locked in cold embrace,

distant indiff'rence on your wan face.

Dwindling down to ice chip,

edges starkly drawn,

so sharp that one might be cut upon.

Mercy gone from your eye

and no pity born,

leaving all 'neath your gaze lost, forlorn.

Winter moon, I dislike

when you're in this guise;

snow in your soul and ice in your eyes.
