A 75-word story
Papa Joey
by RodG
What a morning! The day before Thanksgiving and Joey, all of seven, felt like a papa. Sissy, a beagle, was sharing her new family of five pups.
He knelt with them all on a patch of lawn he’d cleared of fallen oak leaves. The pups were licking their food dish clean.
“Ah, Sissy,” Joey said, stroking her head. “I’m very thankful for all of you, but why couldn’t one of these pups be a kitten?”
