A man visits his mother

A Man Named Lee

by Pamusart

Her mind inside has gotten small.
She now is short, but once was tall.
This stranger wants to visit her
He tells her things the way they were
She sees he's just a lonely man,
who claims that he is in her clan.
He comes here almost ev'ry day.
and hopes she won't send him away:

He says that he's her baby boy;
the son who brought her so much joy.
She wonders why this man would lie,
and why he looks about to cry.
He says "ma, please remember me;
your only son whose name is Lee.".
She thought back to a tiny lad;
a baby that she must have had.

The childbirth wasn't very smooth.
She'd held the child she had to soothe.
She saw her mother's utter grace.
and dad's wide smile upon his face,
She knew that it was very rare,
for dad to leave emotions bare.
These people are inside her mind,
but, sometimes they are hard to find.

The man named Lee is growing pale.
Emotions showing look so frail.
He now decides to take no more
He turns and exits out the door.
Nurse Fran asks how her visit went.
and says her son's a perfect gent.
She struggles hard to process this.
remembers once he gave a kiss.

She wonders when he came here last.
Her mind's been stuck inside the past.
She used to measure five feet nine,
but, now five feet sounds mighty fine.
Her mind has gaps in memory.
So many strangers come to see
It's Alzheimer's, or so they say.
She hopes her baby boy's okay.

Imagine how hard this must be for Lee. Does he leave her forever? I do not think so.
