What is her fate?

The Leap

by Jodi Ann Anderson

She glows in her ivory suit,
reflecting off the giant moon.
As she ascends the jagged rocks,
sweat trickles onto her cold feet.
Her breathing becomes erratic,
while she contemplates her next move.
Her eyes blink slowly with feared thoughts.
Like angel wings, her arms would rise,
as her knees bend and she lifts off.
Angelic, she flies, plummeting.
Unsure of her fate, she falls hard
piercing the pale, empty paper
with her bold point indigo pen
clenched within her willing fingers
splashing emotions like water
all over her clean, virgin slate.
Her confidence soars as she writes,
climbing back up now smoother rocks
leaving behind rosebud footprints
that blossom into
one stanza,
or more than five, showcasing life,
all from the courage of leaping
into the unknown depths of thoughts
and presenting for all to peer
inside the mind of the poet.

I wanted to make it sound one way in the beginning and have an unexpected twist at the end. I had fun with this one! I would also like to give a shoutout to Bart Kerswell for the photo.
