Wedding Ring

by HarryT

Forty-eight years ago, I slipped a ring on her finger
as she did mine, symbols of our pledge of undying love
She wore her ring even to bed as a reminder of our promises
made on the flower strewn altar before a loving God

She said when she touched her ring, she felt joy
Now I wear her golden ring next to mine
on my little finger, each time they touch
I feel her love given during our life together
