A poem written for my mom

Happy Bitthday Mom

by bonespur

You only held my hand for a little while
still, you put my happiness ahead of your own
I remember the days you didn't know what to do
but, you made it work, and now I'm grown.
Your courage gave me strengths I never knew I had
to face the fears that I never knew existed
You taught me to try and do the right thing
Even though, at times, the right things I resisted
Your love was an advantageous blessing
Shedding light on my conflicting growth
And By the time I realized you were right,
I, too, had a daughter, testing the oath.
I am loud, but I am real
I'm not very patient, and I don't do hugs
I make mistakes and i give second chances
Willing to forgive, won't sweep it under rugs
You've been my rock, you are my world,
I need your guidence on this uncertain endeavor
You may have only held my hand for a little while,
But, I'll hold your love in my heart forever.
Happy Birthday mom
