Tango Poem
Tango Beat, Tango Heat

The Tango is a dance that emulated in Argentina. The Tango poem tries to capture the essence of that dance. Tango uses a 4/4, a 2/2, or a 2/4 rhythm, with an angular staccato emphasis. According to the book Tango Allegrio, the poem format was introduced by the singer Carlos Gardel in order to provide lyrics to the music. The poem uses almost any format that conveys the essence of the dance, but is strongly influenced by a meter of 2 or 4. The poem must contain the word Tango within its verse. Rhyme is optional. Here I used eight line stanzas (Octaves) with the following meter: 4-4-4-4-4-4-2-2. I chose a rhyme scheme of: abcbddef aabbccde aabbcdcdef (just to mix thing up).
