Bananas don't need cooking, they are best fruit ever.

Bananas Yes, Plantains No

by HarryT

Bananas good:
Shaped like an evening crescent moon
A tasty fruit sealed in a yellow cocoon
A gift from the tropics that is hard to beat
Each bite is squishy and heavenly sweet

Plantains bad:
They are often mistaken for little bananas
They’re slimy green from African savannas
Best that one should never unpeel and bite
Uncooked they can bring digestive fright

Bananas good:
They are creamy and are a tasty delight
One may enjoy them in morning or night
Packed with potassium, a healthy friend
Brings pleasure from first bite to the end

Plantains bad:
They are hard to digest, bring a gaseous plight
Bellies can be very upset, through day and night
Acidy sensation in the throat it also can bring
Such burning sensation is an unpleasant thing

Remember folks:
When you're shopping in your grocery store's fruit aisle
Plantains can’t be trusted, they are slime green and vile
Bananas are the best fruit ever, each bite will bring a smile

Banana Akbar writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt

Write a poem about how bananas are the best fruit ever, and about how green plantains cannot be trusted. Your poem must include both components (bananas good, green plantains bad).

You may skip the word "green" if you want as long as you differentiate between bananas and plantains. Referring to cooked/fried/boiled plantains as good is acceptable. Non-baptized plantains however are bad and must be referred to as such.

Rhyming and standard meter are recommended but not required.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
