Spring's Promise For Me

by jim vecchio

A slinky is but a spring
As down the stairs it will cling
And we watch, our eyes agape
As it lands, retaining shape

Some men issue hurtful lies
Then tears will spring from our eyes
For words can hurt our being
As through life we seek meaning

A kangaroo can spring high
But never can reach the sky
A varmint springs across the lawn
By the time we see it-Gone!

Warmth and promise are what we seek
As winter chills the heart and creek
After harvest, God draws the line
For it all is His design

Winter’s bluster is not long here
When comes the season most dear
I’ll love Spring for all its worth
My Promise of God’s Rebirth!
