#7 - NaPoWriMo 2024 - Our family of girls

A chapter in the book Love is in the Air

Pretty Pink Pajamas

by Ginda Simpson

Pretty pink pajamas hung on our line
to dry on warm days when the sun would shine.
Our family grew with little girls sweet,
frilly dresses and pink slippers on feet.
Beat of our hearts, they were ours, yours and mine.

House filled with females, by lovely design
each one was unique, a blessing divine.
Soft butterfly kisses, our love made complete.
Pretty pink pajamas hung on our line
to dry on warm days when the sun would shine.

There were tantrums and tears, surely a sign,
our little misses had moods to align.
Their doors, they did slam, in rooms not so neat;
we hoped the teens would soon turn down the heat
Those little darlings were ours, yours and mine.
Pretty pink pajamas hung on our line
to dry on warm days when the sun would shine.

This is my 7th poem for NaPoWriMo 2024. It is my second attempt at a Rondeau, a fixed form of poetry, often used in light or witty poems, with fifteen octo - or decasyllabic lines with three stanzas. It usually only has two rhymes in the poem.
A word or words from the first part of the first line are used as a refrain ending the second and third stanzas. The rhyme scheme is aabba aabR aabbaR.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
