A poem about the eyes that kept me sane

His Eyes

by Heather Bagley

Whenever I was alone
And fear would start to cry
I'd listen to the music
Of your twilight eyes

Whenever I was lost
And a home I could not find
I'd whisper to the stars
Inside your twilight eyes

When my memory would fade
And your face was lost to time
Still I'd feel the warmth and love
Glist'ning in your twilight eyes

And on my final day
When my chest'll no longer rise
the last thing I will see
Is your beautiful twilight eyes

A poem about a Man contest entry

To give a literal description of these eyes, they were bright blue, and light scattered on them like stars and I used to call them his "twinkly eyes."
My brain will forget my favorite parts of the people I love/am attracted to (voice/face etc.) to trick me into seeking that person out so that I can remember that certain feature. I was forcibly separated from this person, and I was desperately clinging to every memory I could, but eventually forgot the details of his face, but I forced the eyes to remain.
