Game of a Lifetime.

A baseball game to remember
Balmy June afternoon
Coach called us together; told us he was proud of us
Despite being a young team, we were champion game bound
Enthusiasm reigned on our team and throughout the school
Fighting hard—we came from behind--we weren't done
Glee was our mood the day we clinched the finals berth
How it happened is a fond memory we all love telling
In the top of the ninth, we scored the go ahead run
Jaws often dropped because we consistently turned that amazing trick
Knots filled our stomachs as we trotted out for the last of the ninth
"Let’s do it! Just three outs to go." Was our aspiring cry
Magic, we felt, was happening we were making great plays  
Nothing was impossible for our team on that memorable day
Over in three outs, we had to get the first guy out of the way
Phil Sutter was on the mound, he had a great curve ball
Quick too was his fast ball, really hard to hit
Reaching back, three strikes in a row; one down, two to go
Second batter up, Roger Grove, hit a towering foul fly
Third baseman, Vance Rapone, ran to the stands and gathered it in
Undeniable excitement was pouring through all our sweaty skins
Victory, sweet victory we all knew was one out away
Winning city championship meant everything, our grit on display
Xavier Cunningham, their clean-up hitter was coming to bat
You wouldn’t believe it, but on the first pitch he hit a high fly to left
Zack Jacklin backed-up, caught the ball, we were CHAMPIONS!
