Archie, The Grumpy Whale

by Stu Harrell

Raise your glasses finest lads
Champions of wind and sail
We're here this day to give a toast
To Archie, the grumpy whale.

For he had chased our tiny ship
Across the bounding main
Some towhead sent a harpoon
At his love near the coast of Spain

He chased us with a scowl he did
And nearly flipped us o'er
We was proper chastened
And bothered her no more

There was a storm a brewin'
Off the coast of Charleston town
We ladled him some Frogmore stew
Then hoisted him a crown

Now a tasty treat of the locals
Was a shrimpy tasty brew
Yummy crabs, corny cobs, chubby taters too
Became the Frogmore stew

For when he ate the fancy goop
Even just a tiny sip
Archie leaped so high up from the depths
That he gave a mighty flip

Huge was the wave he created
It drove the storm away
Now we raise a toast to his memory
Have done so til this day.
