A wolf hunting in order to feed her young pups

Under the Wolf's Moon

by Austin Moore

The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.
Beneath the moon's dim honey glow, I prowl
Stalking my prey as the shadows allow.
Your scent hangs heavily, a tempting treat,
I cannot resist such flavorous meat.

My eyes pierce the darkness, intent to pounce
I'll slowly be creeping up unannounced
Your frantic heartbeat, I can hear it sing
Matching my steps through the forest, it rings

You cannot escape, for this is your fate
Under the wolf's moon, our lives will conflate
Into your juicy flesh, my canines sink
Your life is extinguished in one quick blink

I must feed my young, hungry pups, you see
This is how the circle of life must be
For you this is the end, life's closing verse
A new start from life's unfortunate curse
