My life has been filled with wonderful experiences.  I’ve cherished my time as a daughter, a wife and a mother.  I enjoyed my professional career as a teacher.  I’ve also been able to pursue my passions for bridge, tennis and golf.  I have traveled and lived around the world, making lifelong friends along the way.

Now, I am embracing a new journey.  On January 8th, I was taken to the emergency room with respiratory and heart issues.  While the talented staff of Texas Health Presbyterian was quick to get these issues under control, the long-term prospects have not turned out to be so good.  I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  I have since returned to my home and have started receiving hospice care.

I was touched by the thoughtfulness of Debi Pick Marquette, writing and posting the poem, “Sarah’s in the Hospital”.   I also was moved by the comments and reviews posted on her poem.  I truly appreciate the support and well-wishes which have given me energy to take on this new journey.

I am still laying out the plans for this new experience.  Under the care of my hospice team, I’ll stay in my home for as long as I can.  As time and my energy level permits, I plan to continue to write, and of course, read articles on FanStory.
