Even when facing death, hope can be found.
Tomorrow
by William Stephenson1
During the Korean War, a war correspondent was interviewing Marines who were about to wage battle with a contingent of Communist soldiers and they were outmanned. It was bitterly cold and New Year’s Eve. The soldiers were eating dinner of cold beans out of a can.
The war correspondent, interviewing a Marine said to him philosophically,
“If I were God, and I could give you anything you wanted, what would you ask for?”
Knowing that the odds of survival from this battle were bleak, he said without hesitation,
“I would want you to give me tomorrow.”
His plea for hope.
