A Search

Found at Last

by Paul McFarland

I travel through this wondrous land of ours,

In search of something that I cannot name.

What fragrance issued from some wildlife flowers

Is pulling me away from whence I came?

Those many miles of life have dulled my mind

Horizons that I’ve chased have disappeared

That ideal life I’ve searched for, I can’t find

And now I’m all alone, just as I feared

I now retrace the steps that I have made

Returning home to gather up my thoughts

The rainbows I’ve been chasing start to fade

And fortunately I connect the dots.

So now I’ve found the place I want to be

And my true love’s been waiting there for me.
