Loving You From Afar

Today is a beautiful autumn day
but I can't get out of bed. Yesterday, I saw him again. He was strolling with her across the elm trees promenade. They looked so happy and content, the way we once were a thousand years ago. The last thing he said to me, "don't worry my dear, we can still be friends." Can men and women be friends? I smiled and walked away
swallowing my tears and pain. Last night I dreamed of us, a cruel copy of our past. Your body straddled on mine, my legs wrapped around you and our eyes locked wandering into the abyss of our souls and lives. Can men and women be friends?
I thought you were the one. We shared so much ... passion laughter adventures near and far.

Men and women can be friends but not if they used to be a couple, or if one of the two are in love with the other.
