Down-Home Lovin', The Best Kind

by Reese Turner

Darlin’, how much do I love you?
Let me count all the ways:
I love you when
I’ve had a few
And I’m sorta in a haze.

I love you most when bills are due
And you sometimes find the loot
Or, when I’m snoring on
My front porch rocker
And when you laugh. That’s cute.

When you finally mow the yard
And trim with weed-eater, too.
Or, when you hoe
Or rake or water?
That’s when I’m lovin’ you!

Did I mention, love your cookin’?
I call it “love on a plate!”
Even when you burn
It or drop on the floor
For your cookin’, I can’t wait!

Love is when you wash my truck
Even forgetin’ to vacuum out
Or get the beer cans
From under the seat,
That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

Baby, I know I ain’t a perfect
Man, didn’t go to no fancy school
But, I chose you for
My home-honey
Which proves I ain’t no fool!

Perfunctory Legal Disclaimers: Sorry ladies, I am still married to her and will remain unavailable - at least until I find a redhead who owns a liquor store. Men, you might be tempted to copy my love poem and give it to your wife for Mother's Day or something. Don't do it. It is copy-writed. I sure enjoyed writing this one. It felt so natural...
