Dawg Gonnit Sonnet

by Bill Schott

No Rules Poetry Contest Contest Winner

Each time I begin to write a sonnet,

it's found that my meter's wrong; dawg gonnit!

If I were to finish a limerick,

instead of laughing, readers get sick.

Sestinas are too short; haiku too long;

my free verse rhyme well, but that is just wrong.

Since I cannot rhyme, or write with a rhythm,

I'm all done with poems; I can do nothing with 'em.
