Mood of the moon

Phantom Moon

by John Ciarmello

Illusory light of a day’s precocious moon.

Honed, gray hues delicately

chiffonade the nearing twilight

into heaps of purple gold along a faint horizon.

  ~

One infinitesimal stutter step

to leap into the darkness...

fall through the canvas,

brandish disparate strokes-

~

Now, decades sync between ascetic inclinations.

Seize the wheel of forlorn, incredulous soul.

Grasp its fevered shank,

and grind the clicking arrow against its weathered sphere.

~

Henceforth, resolve falls like stars from

 foreboding constellations.

Woeful shadows bisect the sky--

silhouettes against a pale orb...

~

Beneath, perfidy dances on the outer zone of this phantom moon.

It--a two-faced coin of the gods,

fervently tossed from the pinnacle of darkness,

forever embowered in space–

~

With dissolving radiance...

fate teeters on the edge

of dawn --

It waits...

Never have I had as much fun, nor have I been as honored to co-author this piece with one of my favorite poetesses, Karenina. Her quilled grace moved me to push my untutored muse in this genre to higher heights. I hope you all enjoy this collaborative piece.
