The Secret

I have a deep dark secret
that I swore I would not tell.
All inquiries that I have had,
I've managed to repel.

This secret's locked inside my brain,
but it is wanting out.
To keep it in there, unrevealed,
I really have some doubt.

I'm having trouble sleeping
with this secret on my mind,
And after coming home from work,
I can't seem to unwind.

I don't know what I'm going to do.
It's driving me insane.
I think that I might take to drink
to ease this awful strain.

But I am aging fast;
dementia's in my fam'ly tree,
So maybe I'll forget that secret
that's been bugging me.
