Hollarween

by Lea Tonin1

Straw man dances on his Autumn post
Quivers in fear the 'witches' black boast.
Cold clammy flesh, red mocking love eyes
Show of seduction a quicksand disguise

Glinting white teeth shining black claw
Pumkins shiver the carvings cruel draw.
Jekyll and Hyde's waiting their chance.
Spectres waft with tombstones they dance.

Twenty four hours of horrors intent.
The one yearly chance the dark ones can vent.
Surround your children in white light and prayers.
"Hollarween's coming, stay out if you dare."
