Charlie Chaplin was involved in a series of trials, including a paternity in which he was most likely innocent. Partly due to his resemblance to Hitler (which he drew upon for THE GREAT DICTATOR), all manner of false accusations about his views were raised. Accused of being a communist, Chaplin declared he was, rather, a Pacifist and against governmental infringement of civil liberties. He was forced into exile from the U.S. -Today he is recognized as a multi-talented Genius!
