Moonlight Reflections
White sand in moonlight
conjuring images
of time and places from long ago
When ships sailed the seven seas
in search of fountains of youth and Incan gold
When ships became vessels of hope
for men seeking asylum from persecution
or vessels of death
for those captured to be sold ~
depending upon which way the winds blew
Some reaped riches as merchants
Others pillaged as pirates
History preserved
within each grain of sand ~
like buried treasure
sifted through time,
offering a glimpse into the past ~
as we chart a straighter course
for the future ~
Moonlight reflections
