Revival

An old, forgotten piano
rests in stillness
anticipating
beneath a veil of settled dust
 
Glistening specks float
glowing in beams of sunlight
dancing
to memories of melodies
 
Coated keys of black and white
preserved through fleeting years
longing
for a satisfying renewal
 
She trails her finger through the dust
a clean black line follows
revealing
potential despite neglect
 
The old stool creaks when she sits
a familiar sound
comforting
a prelude to a sleeping symphony
 
She hesitates, then touches a key
a note emerges
resonating
a declaration of resilience
 
And with a sweep of her fingers
a passion is rediscovered
awakening
stirring up the settled dust
