Short humorous story about my parakeets on vacation

Parakeets on Vacation

by CrystieCookie999

Although unaware of their jet-setting double life, I was informed by my parakeets Tash, Cloudy, Morning, and Jupiter Jule that they had spent a lively weekend in the Canary Islands on vacation. They first considered flying to Keet-ev in Russia, but they don't speak Russian. Instead they chose Gran Canaria, which is the third largest of the seven main islands.

Luckily, they found a cheep group tour peck-age that included several parakeets and canaries from both the United States and England. Their tour guide was named David Duck,
who woke everyone in the group up at the quack of dawn to go sightseeing. They visited the nature reserve by the Maspalomas Beach, then they all flew up to perch on top of the old lighthouse called El Faro. David, the guide, also said they could try swimming. Although my parakeets had never had swimming lessons, they decided to wing it.

Since my pets are from the Southwest United States, they were naturally drawn to a Mexican restaurant named La Esquin-keeta. Tash told me how canaries, parakeets, and other exotic birds can order fresh salsa with plenty of cilantro to pour on birdseed fa-keetas and burr-keet-os. My parakeets tried non-alcoholic marga-keetas in a variety of flavors at a cheep price. Tash met a very nice Spanish-English canary named Robird Montgom-birdy. Tash and Robird had a date to go dancing at a disco-peck. While Tash and Robird were out on the town, Cloudy, Morning, and Jupiter Jule met some British budgies, who told them about a place in London called Canary Wharf, which my parakeets think would work wonderfully well for next year's vacation destination. This year's vacation fully rejuvenated the parakeets, as they are feeling much more chirper than before.

Maspalomas = here is another bird reference, since palomas means doves or pigeons as translated from Spanish to English.

There really is a Mexican restaurant on Gran Canaria named El Esquinita. It has good reviews. Never been there.

Robird Mont-gombirdy = A nod to Classic American Hollywood actor Robert Montgomery (1904-1981), the father of actress Elizabeth Montgomery, who was best known for playing Samantha in "Bewitched," a popular 1960s TV sitcom.
