my plant

Orchie

by Iza Deleanu

I am a Virgo, and they say I am supposed to be good with plants, and whatever I touch should grow with no problem. But unfortunately,  I left myself to be infatuated by this label. As it turns out, the saying needs to be backed up by actual skills. So here I am in front of this Orchid I got from work last December. The damn thing gives me the "kiss my green cheek thing" without any flowers. I was so close to letting it go, but I don't know if it was right. Poor thing is lingering between life and death like she cannot make up her mind. I kind off dance in limbo and sing to her: "Poor thing, you make my heart sink. Should I let you go?"
Today I came across this comment that a flower needs water, nutrients, and love. As I look in the mirror, I sense that my love supply is gone. For the sake of Orchie, I will try it, so I attack frontally: "Listen up, my Costarican queen, show me some willpower and produce a freaking heir. Give me one small flower, so I know you are just playing hard to get." I keep my eyes on Orchie, and she gives me disgusted a yellow leaf. I am taking the leaf and trying to diagnose it: "If it is yellow.... let it mellow? Nope, this characteristic is for something else. I really don't know what to do. Orchie is too proud to admit that we lost the battle.
I let it be for another day. Nervous, I called my friend, and she said to go and fetch a magical concoction she was using for her plants. Man, I must admit her Orchids are ginormous. My Orchie has huge leaves but zero flowers. I hope this miracle drink will help my Ochie "flower up."
