When your trusted lover leaves you in the dark about another

Broken Butterfly

Cocooned and safe

My favorite place 

Everything is other 

Everything is gone 

Here with you 

Is my favorite song

Delusions of peace 

My lover and me 

Our love 

Armor to protect me  

A sweet lullaby 

You sing softly to me 

Puts me fast asleep.  

When I awake my dreams 

Clash with reality 

My pillow isn’t just for me 

More than one butterfly I see!

Silky threads unraveling 

Exposed for all to see 

My cocoon! 

Safe it will never be 

Just a shell of what was 

Or what could be 

My cocoon

Felt perfect to me 

The trust was strong 

The threads are broken 

Now your butterfly is gone. 

She flew away to sing her own song.
