Owl

by Diana Harris

Majestic owl beats his wings
Landing softly on a stump
Other birds afraid to sing
When he jumps down with a thump

Hunting claws reach out and grasp
A poor little rodent vole
Nature sends a final gasp
As the owl obtains his goal

Stretching wings out wide and far
The owl lands and looks upon the scene
Patiently waiting on a star
Graceful and serene
