Chasing the Blues

For all my life I've had the blues,
with memories that I retrace.
I've chased the dreams the heart pursues
but yet I never found my place.

I lost my wife and, too, my home,
for all my life I've had the blues.
To catch my dreams I had to roam...
to share my pain through my kazoos.

I've wept at numerous debuts,
for bands of blues for solo role,
for all my life I've had the blues
but told kazoos don't have the soul.

I doubt my dreams will shine too bright
or bask someday in praised reviews.
I buzz through my kazoo tonight,
for all my life I've had the blues.
