Why Should I Listen?

by Monica Chaddick

Tommy never listened. Mom had told him a million times not to run with scissors. He didn't see why, though. He figured he was careful.

Mom called Tommy for supper. As usual, he came charging down the hallway at full speed. Mom had, of course, reminded him not to bring his scissors, but he carried them everywhere.

A few weeks later, Tommy was sitting at dinner and complaining. He was always angry now. Mom tried to be patient, but Dad never failed to remind him that he would be able to see now if he had listened to his mother.
