Belvedere

by RodG

We met on a Sunday morning at the dog park. Miranda's pooch was a brown poodle/terrier named Belvedere with a stately manner. My Sadie was a long-haired mutt too friendly for my liking.

She broke loose and scampered towards him, yipping happily.

Miranda, laughing, plucked Sadie's leash from the dewy grass and handed it to me.

We talked while the dogs played.

Two hours later she said, "Come to dinner tonight."

When I arrived, I gasped. Belvedere was sitting in a chair at the table.

Miranda kissed my cheek. "He's the Guest of Honor for bringing us together."
