Painless abstinence!

A Fraternal Bond

by Debbie D'Arcy

A bar in Ireland is the scene we set
And Sean, a stranger, enters at full trot.
He asks the barman if three pints he'd get
Then sits down on his own and drinks the lot!

When quizzed about this habit he would say -
"T'is but a pact I've made with brothers two
For, living in their countries far away,
This will, if shared, cause bonding to renew."

But then one day just two pints he would flaunt,
Thus barman quite concerned there'd been a death
And, smitten with him, this idea did haunt
So questions him with fear and bated breath.

"My brothers both so well, in health remain
But I, today, from drinking will abstain!"
