Mama

by Diana Harris

Mama

Mama, Do you See me?

Quietly standing by

While others take your time

Am I ever in your eye?

Mama, Do you Hear me?

As I softly weep inside.

Knowing you will call me

Only after someone has died?

Mama, Do you Feel me?

Reaching out inside my heart

Loving you from a distance

An afterthought, apart?

Mama, Do you See me?

Mama, Do you Hear me?

Mama, Do you Feel me?

I am here.

I have always been right here.
